Finished Organizer

Ta da !
Finished this little organizer, and love how it turned out.
The colour was a little lighter than expected, and I added a hand painted flower to the top because it just felt like an empty space that needed to be decorated !

^That is true to colour.
The below isn’t. But it shows the flower which was done in silver.
I’m definitely not talented in the drawing/freehand painting area, but I gave it my best shot haha.

Tomorrow I should have a post up with the tv stand that I should be finished in the morning !

Small, Old Wall Organizer

Image

I thought this would be a cute little addition to my study area at home.
The little slot things can hold my study flash cards, and the tiny drawer can hold little random things.
Perfect for a university student with a lot of studying ahead of her this year !

The plan with this one is to simply prime it, and paint it a loud colour.
I figure it’s small enough that it’ll be a good object to choose to give the room a pop of something.

Tomorrow I get to go shopping for paint, which is turning into my favourite thing to do.
Really, what’s better than choosing colours !
Although the stand in my last post is now being turned into a tv stand instead of a bench, because my Grandma wants it.
So I’m now making that for her, and sadly she wants it to be a boring white or cream colour.
But I’m sure that’ll turn out fine and I think maybe I’ll change the hardware into a dark brassy colour for some contrast.

I’m still not done sanding the bench/tv stand… it’s taking awhile.
I’m hoping to have it done within this next week before I go on a trip, and before school starts !

What I’m currently working on

Image

Here is another piece that I’m currently working on.
I’m not exactly sure what it is, some kind of stand.
It has wheels on the bottom.
My idea for this piece is to turn it into a little bench, which I could see looking very cute at the end of a bed or by a low window.

I’m currently in the process of sanding this, which is taking for ever.
I don’t know if I just have a sucky sander, or if the way this wood was treated is just being difficult to sand.

I’m not totally sure what colour scheme I want for this one.
I was thinking of doing a jade colour, and doing silver hardware again.
I think I also want to make a cushion for this as well.

I’m excited to see how this piece turns out !
I’m going to go work on sanding it right now.

Classic Bread Box

I found this bread box at a fleamarket , and I just love bread boxes !
I think they make great storage containers, and they’re fun to decorate and refurbish.

I forgot to take a before picture, but this one gives you the basic gist of it.

Mine had a very light flower engraving on it.
I decided to go black on this one, and on a whim outlined the flower with silver and added some touches of blue.
I also added a couple extra vines, leaves, and the flower on the handle.
I think the hand painting really gives it an extra special quality, and it’s my favourite part.

Breadbox3

It looks a little streaky in the pictures, but that’s because I was too excited to wait for it to dry before taking a picture haha.
It’s actually a matte black.

I don’t have a picture of the inside, because I just finished it today.
But I painted it the bright blue colour, just to give it a pop when you open it.

I really love it, but I think I’d be willing to make this my first piece to sell.
If you’re interested just let me know.

What do you think?

I’ll definitely be keeping my eyes open for more bread boxes to revamp =]

Introduction & First Project !

Hello all !
Welcome to my blog “Charm Revamped”
I’ve made this blog to share my love of refurbishing, especially the things I find at flea markets.
I got hooked on this hobby fast, and thought it’d be interesting to share my little adventure with it and possibly even sell some of my pieces !

A little about me:

My name is Ashley, I’m 20 years old,
I’ve just moved to the beautiful Okanagan in BC, Canada. And I’m attending class at UBCO, majoring in Zoology.
This refurbishing thing is new to me, but I’m already hooked. I love using it as a creative outlet and I love creating things.

I’m not quite sure of my furniture style yet,
I love quirky things, bright colours, and unexpected details.
But I also love simple, clean, classic items.
I think the things I create will reflect that.

So here is the first that I’ve worked on!
It’s an old desk that used to belong to my Grandpa, and before that it belonged to his Mom.
The wood is walnut, and the paint is what my Grandma says is “strong boat paint”. That was fun to get off.

Desk1

I knew I wanted a bright colour, especially because my new place has dark floors and I need something to stand out, and brighten up the place.
I also wanted something that wasn’t too crazy that it wouldn’t match anything else.

Desk4

So I decided on a tiffany blue colour, and on a whim decided to also paint the hardware a metallic silver colour.

Desk2

I’m super pleased with how it came out.
I think it looks bright, yet clean and classic.
I’ve also painted the chair this colour, but I’m going to make a cushion for it first before I show that =] .

What do you think?
